Privacy Statement

Data protection information:

The information held by Kerry Atkins Psychotherapy and Counselling is as follows:

1. Your name, address, email address and telephone number- this information is used to contact you and to receive contact from you.

1. GP contact details and medications taken- this information is kept in case of emergency. The working contract outlines how this information may be used.

1. Emergency contact persons phone number- This is taken and kept in case of emergency (ill health or distress) where it is deemed appropriate that you are accompanied from the session.
2. Brief notes are kept to record when you attend sessions.

1. I may take brief notes as a reminder of the sessions and for supervision purposes. These notes are anonymised and all efforts are made to not include any identifiable information.
2. Recordings of sessions may be made. This may be for supervision purposes. Your consent will be discussed with your counsellor if a session is being recorded. All information will be anonymised before such recordings are used.

All data held by Kerry Atkins Psychotherapy and Counselling is kept secured in line with data protection principles and UK law. The data held is never shared with third parties except for legal reasons.

Data retention policy:

The above data is retained for 7 years and then destroyed. This is in order either to comply with a legal obligation or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
